This spot, called The Pillow, is named after the slippery granite slabs that have been shaped by erosion into rounded forms resembling pillows. At an earlier time, all of the NE Granite from Canada to New Hampshire was likely smoothed by erosion, but the ice ages cracked the granite with freezing and thawing, leaving jagged rock that is once again being eroded by the incessant flow of water. |
